નવી દિલ્હી – પોતાની ૪૫ વર્ષની સુદીર્ઘ રાજકીય કારકિર્દીમાં એકેય વાર ચૂંટણી ન હારવાની સિદ્ધિ ધરાવતા કેન્દ્રીય કૃષિ પ્રધાન, પીઢ રાજકારણી અને રાષ્ટ્રવાદી કોંગ્રેસ પાર્ટીના પ્રમુખ શરદ પવારે કહ્યું છે કે તે યુવા પેઢીને માટે માર્ગ મોકળો કરી આપવા રાજકારણને અલવિદા કરી દેવા ઈચ્છે છે.
પવાર ૧૯૮૫માં સંસદમાં પહેલી વાર ચૂંટાઈ આવ્યા ત્યારથી અત્યાર સુધીમાં લોકસભાની ચૂંટણી ૮ વખત જીતી ચૂક્યા છે. તેમનું કહેવું છે કે ૨૦૧૪માં નિર્ધારિત હવે પછીની સંસદીય ચૂંટણી લડવાની તેમને ઈચ્છા નથી.
એક ટીવી ઈન્ટરવ્યૂમાં ૭૨ વર્ષીય પવારે કહ્યું કે, ‘ઘણું થયું… યુવા લોકોને પ્રોત્સાહન આપવા અને યુવા નેતાગીરી (મારા) રાજકીય પક્ષમાં કામને આગળ ધપાવે એ જોવાની મારા જેવા લોકોની જવાબદારી બને છે. આ વર્ષે હું રાજકારણમાં ૪૫ વર્ષ પૂરા કરીશ. લોકસભાની હવે પછીની ચૂંટણી લડવાની મારી ઈચ્છા નથી હું ૧૯૬૭માં રાજકારણમાં પ્રવેશ્યો હતો અને ત્યારથી સતત ચૂંટાતો આવ્યો છું… સદ્દભાગ્યે હું ક્યારેય ચૂંટણી હાર્યો નથી.’
પવારે કોંગ્રેસમાંથી છૂટા થયા બાદ ૧૯૯૯માં રાષ્ટ્રવાદી કોંગ્રેસ પાર્ટી (એનસીપી)ની સ્થાપના કરી હતી. તે સંરક્ષણ પ્રધાન પદે પણ રહી ચૂક્યા છે અને મહારાષ્ટ્રમાં ત્રણ વાર મુખ્ય પ્રધાન બન્યા હતા.
તેમના પુત્રી સુપ્રિયા સુળે સક્રિય રાજકારણમાં છે અને મહારાષ્ટ્રમાંથી લોકસભાનાં સભ્ય બન્યાં છે.
પવારના ભત્રિજા પણ મહારાષ્ટ્રમાં અગ્રગણ્ય રાજકારણી છે અને હાલ રાજ્યના નાયબ મુખ્ય પ્રધાન છે.
રાજકારણને ‘ગુડબાય’ કરી દેવા વિચારે છે શરદ પવાર
