NEW YORK: 'Chaalo Gujarat' - World Gujarati Conference is an initiative taken up by AAINA (Association of Indian Americans in North America) to establish the unity of Gujarati speaking community in articulating aspirations and common interests; to provide network opportunity for personal and community goals and growth; to unite and discuss business, education, culture and social issues, health - spiritual and entertainment issues and issues affecting the population. September '06 witnessed one of such biggest ever community event in the history of Indian Diaspora: 'Chaalo Gujarat' - World Gujarati Conference.

The first and largest ever gathering of Gujaratis from all walks of life and all parts of the world, all under the same roof. It was inspiring for everyone who attended the event and the memories are still fresh. It was for the first time that leaders from various fields were together for one cause, one mission: Uniting the Spirit of Gujarat.

Once again, AAINA, with its sole mission to bring Gujaratis world over at one point, to make them feel proud of their roots and to introduce the young Gujaratis, born abroad, to their rich cultural and progressive heritage, is organizing a three-day congregation 'Chaalo Gujarat' - World Gujarati Conference '08. It will be an amalgamation of traditional values and modern outlook. The theme of the event is Past, present and future of Gujarat and Gujaratis.

The past will meet the present to create an extraordinary future in these three days of historical importance.This three day event will have speeches from leaders, conferences closely tucked in between fashion shows, Laser show, Multi Screen Film, Legends of Gujarat Gallery, Traditional Dance, Comedy show, Food festival, Raas Garba Competition, Skit, play and many more.Several prominent Gujaratis, who have excelled in various fields, are invited to attend the conference and share their experience.

Besides, industrialists, businessmen, professionals and politicians, personalities from Indian Television and Film industry and religious leaders have shown interest to attend the conference, wherein Gujaratis from all walks of life will assemble. People of Gujarati-origin or born and brought up in Gujarat, their caste and religion notwithstanding, are invited to attend the conference, wherein Gujaratis from all walks of life will assemble.

Dignitaries invited include Mukesh Ambani, Anil Ambani, Narendra Modi, Praful Patel, Sam Pitroda, Jagdish Bhagwati, Pankaj Udhas, Paresh Rawal, Himesh Reshammiya, Falguni Pathak, Aishwarya Majmudar, Irfan Pathan and many more.

Not many people know that a dedicated team of Gujarati entrepreneurs has set up an organization titled Association of Indian Americans in North America (AIANA) that organizes Chaalo Gujarat, a grand programme that acts as a cultural bridge between Gujaratis living all across the world and narrows down geographical distance between them. The first such Conference was organized in 2006. And this year the second Chaalo Gujarat Conference is been held from 29th August to 31st August.  

What is important this year is the fact that the organizers of the Conference are going to felicitate your favourite magazine Chitralekha’s Chairman Maulik Kotak and its editor Mr. Bharat Ghelani.
